Tech Gear - Digital Picture Frame

Consumer Electronics Show 2006

So now that you've switched to digital camera, do you still show the pictures the old-fashioned way by printing and storing them in a photo album?  Why not shift to a new method and put them into a digital picture frame that can be placed on a table and display a slideshow of all your favorites?

I saw this from Pacific Digital MV-800 and was impressed by its appearance and features:

bullet8 inch color LCD display capable of 640x480 pixel resolution
bulletSimple to operate: put memory card and power up
bulletCapable of playing MP3 music with the slideshow using built-in speakers
bulletCapable of displaying full-motion MPEG4 video
bulletSlots for various memory cards: Compact Flash, SD, MMC, Memory Stick
bulletPriced under $250

When this frame finally arrived, I became even more impressed with what it can do.

  1. It comes with three different memory card slots but the neat thing is that you can actually put all three different cards at the same time.  You then select the card by using the credit-card sized remote!
  2. On any memory card, you can put your picture files into one folder and video files into another and then choose which folder to "play".  Thus you can have different pictures showing in a slideshow, or showing different videos.
I found this frame cheaper at Buy.com!  Click here.

You know what the best part is?  Without any effort, I can just take the memory card out of the digital camera and put it into this frame and enjoy all the pictures I took.  No more waiting several weeks just to transfer to my PC, edit it, and print it before the photos are enjoyed!  Hurray!!
